Most people don’t ruin their luxury bags. The repair shops do.
There is a specific kind of silence that happens when someone opens their bag after getting it back from a repair shop.
It is not relief. It is not happiness. It is the silence of someone who is looking very carefully at the stitching, turning the bag slowly in the light, checking the corner they brought it in for and realising that something looks different. Not wrong exactly. Just… different. Like a painting where someone filled in a small damaged patch with paint that’s almost the right color.
Almost.
I have watched this happen in our workshop more times than I would like to count. The bag comes in. The customer explains the original problem a torn strap, a scuffed corner, a loose seam. Then they mention, almost as an afterthought, that they already tried somewhere else first.
That detail tried somewhere else first is almost always where the real story begins.
